Choosing To Change Our Politics

_GW27040The time has come for a completely fresh start in our politics to restore trust and respect. Labour is promising a referendum on democratic reform after the election to ensure that every MP has the support a majority in their constituency. Politicians should be accountable to all of their constituents. That is why the disdain for local views by the leadership of Merton Council is so wrong, the Council leader, David Williams, was quoted in the Wimbledon Guardian (6th August 2009) as saying that public support for the Waitrose in Alexandra Road was, in his view, ‘irrelevant’.  It is time that we choose to change our politics.

My Priorities:

  • As your local Mp my first approach will be to listen. My second will be to act on your behalf.
  • My overriding goal will be to achieve positive results that answer your concerns and support your aspirations.
  • Every weekend I walk around chatting to people on their doorstep. I also conduct regular surveys and surgeries to be in a position to take a lead on local issues.
